In 1 Corinthians, the meaning of love is dissected in a beautiful way. The characteristics of this powerful word are not something to be taken lightly. Meditating on these verses has opened my eyes to not only the indescribable gift that we receive from the Lord, but the emotion that we can, in turn, show to others. It is a precious thing. As He was growing me in this, it became very obvious that I needed to reconsider the path I was on and where it was taking me. I poured a lot of my time and emotion into making decisions about my education. When I felt a strong push away from school into missions, it came as a bit of a shock. At first, I felt like God was asking me to serve Him in a more long-term way. I wasn’t sure exactly what that meant, but I trusted Him and I believe because of that, He has allowed me to be a part of an amazing opportunity within Experience Mission and their upcoming Immersion Program. Immersion is a six-month program for young adults who have been looking to travel and serve in a cross-cultural setting. It has been an overwhelming blessing to see how all of the details have come together so quickly; God is surely at work.
Starting this July, I will be joining a team that is travelling from the Navajo Reservation in Arizona to South Africa , Mozambique , and Lesotho . I never imagined that I would have the ability or opportunity to go to Africa , so to say that I am excited is a rather large understatement! Our team has the wonderful opportunity to partner with the local leaders to tackle some projects such as HIV/AIDS education, water sanitation, agricultural needs, and church outreach. While we are in each community, we will focus on building relationships with the residents as well as living and serving alongside them. Many of the people have a vision for making their community better, so we will get to help make that a reality.
